Our approach is built around presuming competence, recognizing each athlete’s strengths, and meeting them where they are. By closely collaborating with athletes, families, and medical professionals, our expert coaches develop personalized fitness programs tailored specifically to each athlete’s goals, abilities, and preferences. This individualized approach provides the structure and support athletes need to achieve meaningful results—building strength, confidence, and community. Our Approach

At Inclusive Fitness, we’re all about welcoming everyone! We’re here to support neurodivergent people aged 12 and up. From our incredibly capable athletes with complex profiles to our fiercely independent self-advocates and everyone in between, we embrace the diversity of our inclusive community.

You’ll find a warm welcome here, with many of our athletes being autistic, while others bring their unique journeys with Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, IDD, ADHD, acquired brain injury, or rare genetic diseases. We’re a diverse family, and you’re invited to be a part of it!

Effective coaching requires more than technical expertise… it requires a certain mindset.

  • Presume Competence: Start with the assumption that everyone can learn to exercise, craves achievement, and will succeed with time, guidance, and support.
  • Meet Them Where They Are: Work with athletes in ways that meet their needs and preferences and build on their strengths and be flexible in your expectations, approach, and timing.
  • Generalize to Real Life: Focus on functional fitness, using everyday movement patterns and skills-building that help people become strong, stable, and resilient.
  • Prioritize Self-Agency: Give athletes options, choices, and control during their workouts so that they learn to frame their fitness as something they have ownership over.
  • Engage the Ecosystem: Consider that every person lives within a vibrant community, and each member is a role model as well as someone who needs encouragement and support.

Designed specifically to support neurodivergent athletes, Inclusive Fitness differs significantly from traditional gyms. We offer adjustable lighting, optional music, frosted windows for privacy, and a distraction-free environment to ensure sensory comfort. Coaches and athletes collaborate using personalized whiteboard programs, allowing athletes to actively monitor and celebrate their progress. Additionally, our dedicated chill-out space supports athletes who need a quiet moment to self-regulate, creating a genuinely inclusive fitness experience.
