Introducing Lauren, the New Head Coach at Inclusive Fitness

Meet Coach Lauren… again!

We are elated to re-introduce you to Lauren as our newly appointed Head Coach at Inclusive Fitness. With a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Exercise Science from Endicott College (where she also played ice hockey!), an Autism Fitness Certification, and three years of dedicated service as a coach at IF, she’s well-prepared to guide our team. Her academic background is varied and comprehensive, covering areas like exercise physiology, anatomy, strength and conditioning, psychology of sport, and special populations. Passionate about sports training from a young age, Lauren knew she would pursue a career as a personal trainer for neurodivergent people. “Since I was in high school, I’ve dreamt of being an advocate for this population and making a difference because I have lived the struggles with my family.”

Lauren’s journey at Inclusive Fitness began with a 480-hour internship that armed her with the specialized skills needed to serve our community. Next, she became a coach and has now stepped into the role of Head Coach. In her new position, she takes on new responsibilities—ranging from onboarding and mentoring new coaches, to managing our ongoing reporting process, to helping new athletes and their families feel welcome in our community.

A Deep Personal Commitment to Neuroadaptive Fitness

IMG 0919Lauren’s advocacy for neuroadaptive fitness isn’t just professional; it’s profoundly personal. Her sister Lindsay, has Down syndrome; therefore, Lauren has firsthand insight into the glaring gaps in fitness opportunities for neurodivergent individuals. These experiences have imbued her with what she refers to as her “coaching superpower,” enabling her to deeply understand and empathize with her athletes’ needs. She says, “When I’m coaching my athletes at IF, my main goal is to make sure they have the power to design and tailor a program that they want and enjoy- to ensure independence and motivation.”

Growing up, Lauren had access to a plethora of sports and fitness activities, but she noticed that Lindsay wasn’t offered the same breadth of opportunities. This lack didn’t just affect physical health; it also impacted social interactions and overall well-being. Fueled by these observations, Lauren has been committed to being an advocate for neuroadaptive fitness. “We all want our children, siblings, or other loved ones to live the highest quality of life possible, which is why I work at Inclusive Fitness,” she adds.

Congratulations, Lauren!
